Red card! Alanyaspor President and Former FIFA licenced referee reacts to Osayi-Samuel's tackle on Özdemir

As a result of losing his spot in Jorge Jesus' first-team squad, the Super Eagles defender's market value has lately fallen

Hasan Avuşolu, the president of Alanyaspor, and Deniz Ateş Bitnel, a former FIFA-certified referee, both disapproved of the official's call during Fenerbahçe vs Alanyaspor tie.

They believe the Nigerian international Bright Osayi-Samuel should have been sent off for the way he tackled Turkish defender Yusuf Ozdemir.

During the match, the Super Eagles fullback collided with the Alanyaspor defender, and the home team demanded a red card. Yet, Mete Kalkavan, the referee, raised a yellow card to the Nigerian instead of a red card.

This has therefore become a subject of debate in the Turkish league in which president Çavuşoğlu speaking after the game, claimed the tackle was obvious.

“Turkey as a whole saw what I saw. A five-year-old will tell you that Osayi should have received a red card if you ask them. In this approach, Anatolian clubs have little chance of surviving.” Says the president, as cited by BBO sports.

The referee, who was forced to resign from his position following the Galatasaray-Trabzonspor game, also addressed the matter and questioned the referee's action.

“The tackle made by Osayi Samuel and Ahmet Ouz are similar. He ought to have received a red card. Mete Kalkavan reached into his pocket in the rear. He prepared to issue a red card. Why was he told to stop?” he said, as quoted by Futbolarena.

The Yellow Canaries maintained their place in the league rankings after defeating their hosts 3-nil during their visit to the Bahçeşehir Okullar Arena.

However, the Nigerian has arrived at the Super Eagles' camp after Jose Peseiro summoned him up for their match against Guinea-Bissau in a qualifier for the Africa Cup of Nations.
