Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, recently made headlines for her impressive performance against Canada in the FIFA Women's World Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.

As the Nigerian team took on the reigning Olympic Champions in their opening game, Plumptre showcased her talent and skill on the field.

In a recent interview with Soccernet.ng, Plumptre opened up about her love for Afrobeats music, a genre that has gained immense popularity worldwide, championed by Nigerian artistes like Wizkid, Burnaboy, Davido, and more.

Despite the widespread popularity of these artists, Plumptre revealed that her favourite Afrobeat musicians are Wizkid and Burnaboy.

The 25-year-old defender shared that her love for Afrobeats started with her family's influence, particularly her Aunty Lulu and her granddad, who often played music by legendary Nigerian artist King Sunny Ade.

“When I first joined the team [Super Falcons of Nigeria], my Aunty Lulu, and my granddad always play King Sunny Ade, and people were always like ‘You are too young for that'. But I like the authentic vibe. I have an Afrobeat playlist, and it's got a lot of Wizkid, [and] Burnaboy.” the Nigerian international said.

When asked to pick her favourite among Nigeria's megastars, Wizkid, Burnaboy, and Davido, Plumptre confidently chose “Burnaboy”.
