Frosinone want another Super Eagles forward to join Osimhen, Chukwueze, Lookman in Serie A

Italy is fast becoming a favourite destination for elite Nigerian footballers and another of the country's fine finishers could be heading there ahead of next season

Newly promoted Serie A team Frosinone Calcio have set their sights on Nigerian forward Josh Maja as a potential transfer target, Soccernet.ng reports.

The club's top finish in Serie B last season earned them a well-deserved spot in the prestigious Italian topflight.

With eyes firmly fixed on the upcoming championship return to Serie A, Frosinone is actively exploring various player profiles in the market to bolster Eusebio Di Francesco's squad.

As per TMW, the addition to Frosinone radar is one-cap Super Eagles star Maja, who is currently a free agent after parting ways with Bordeaux.

At 24 years old, Maja's potential addition to Frosinone's ranks could prove to be more than just a viable option.

He enjoyed an impressive season in Ligue 2, scoring a remarkable 16 goals, though it fell short of securing Bordeaux's promotion to Ligue 1.

Now unfettered by contractual obligations, the former Sunderland standout is looking for a fresh opportunity.

However, the competition for his signature is fierce, and numerous clubs are vying for his services.

Serie A might be an appealing destination for Maja, considering the recent successes of Nigerian forwards in the league.

Napoli's Victor Osimhen achieved an impressive feat by becoming the top scorer with 26 goals last season, marking a milestone for African players.

Additionally, Ademola Lookman had a remarkable debut campaign at Atalanta, registering 13 goals and featuring among the top five goal scorers.

More recently, Samuel Chukwueze made a stunning move to AC Milan from Villarreal, further solidifying the trend of Nigerian talent shining in the Italian topflight.
