Tella played an essential role in Burnley’s title-winning campaign, producing impressive performances throughout the season.

Although he missed the game against Blackburn due to injury, Tella’s contribution was critical to Burnley’s success.

The Clarets clinched the Championship title with a thrilling victory over Lancashire rivals Blackburn, thanks to Manuel Benson’s second-half strike.

Burnley now has an unassailable 13-point lead over second-placed Sheffield United, confirming their deserved championship status with two games to spare.

This achievement is significant, given they were relegated from the top flight last season. The Clarets’ promotion means they will play in the English Premier League next season.

Tella’s impact on Burnley’s success saw him named in the Championship team of the season, with only Middlesbrough’s Chuba Akpom beating him to the Player of the Season award.

The Southampton loanee made 38 league appearances for the Clarets, scoring 17 goals and assisting five others.

Tella’s performances in the Championship are likely to have caught the attention of the Nigerian national team selectors, and he has been tipped as a potential future star for the Super Eagles.

Tella’s future remains uncertain, though.

He still has two years left on the contract he signed with Southampton in January 2022.

Burnley will be keen to retain his services, and several other clubs would undoubtedly have him on their wishlist.

However, the Saints could be tempted to keep hold of the impressive Tella, who can play anywhere across the front line, if they are also relegated to the Championship.
