Singer, Teni Breaks Silence On Rivers State Gunshot Incident
Nigerian female musician, Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has reacted to the gunshot incident that disrupted her performance in Rivers state yesterday.
Ezenwoko’s Blog had reported earlier that the award-winning singer escaped an alleged attempt to kidnap her while performing on stage in Buguma town in the Asari-Toru Local Government Area of the State.
Teni was performing at a New Year show in the state before the attack and everyone had to scamper to safety.
An eyewitness who gave a hint of the incident earlier said the attack saw many people rushed to the hospital because of the stampede.
Reacting to the incident hours after a video clip of the incident had circulated the media, Teni took to her Instagram story on Monday to state that it could’ve been a different story.
She wrote, “(It) could have been a different story entirely but I’m grateful to God.
“Myself and entire team are safe and back home now. Thanks for the calls and messages.”
The entertainer also shared a video clip showing moment she and her crew were heading to the airport for a home return.

Meanwhile, the acting spokesman for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, had confirmed the incident in a statement earlier but noted that Teni was rescued by security operatives unhurt.
Iringe-Koko added that the incident was not a kidnap attempt on the singer but was caused by a misunderstanding among some hoodlums at the event, forcing the security operatives shot into the air to disperse them.
“The police division there in Buguma has been mandated to fish out those behind the attack. We will ensure they are brought to book,” she stated.
