Retired Super Eagles star blocked from making Premier League return

The retired Super Eagles star was set to return to make a shock return to the English top-flight, but his plans fell through

The Premier League have blocked retired Super Eagles star Victor Moses from sealing a move to Burnley, citing ‘sporting integrity' as the reason for their decision.

The 31-year-old sealed a permanent move to Russian side Spartak Moscow last summer after initially spending the previous season on loan at the Russian giants.

Unfortunately, with the Russo-Ukrainian war, the former Chelsea man's stay at Moscow has been somewhat tumultuous. Although the Russian league is still in full swing, his safety is not assured.

Football governing body FIFA and UEFA gave special considerations to players from Russia, allowing them to leave their clubs because of the war.

Burnley was looking to take advantage of that to secure Moses' services, but Sky Sports reports that the Premier League blocked the move citing ‘sporting integrity' as their reason.

The former Nigeria international has a lot of Premier League experience, featuring for Wigan, Stoke City, Liverpool and Chelsea, where he won the Premier League.
