Report: Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi stalls on accepting new contract deal

The match against Chelsea this weekend will mark Alex Iwobi’s 250th appearance in the English Premier League

Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, is reportedly holding back signing a new deal with Everton as they fight relegation in the English Premier League standings.

The Super Eagles attacker, whose time on Merseyside is running out, has been crucial to the Toffees’ effort to stay out of the bottom-division spots.

According to earlier rumours, the Blues are reportedly moving forward with a new contract to extend his stay at the club in light of the recently concluded agreement with Jordan Pickford.

Recent rumours, however, indicate that the Merseyside club is eager to renew Alex Iwobi’s contract and has made an offer to him.

Given that the team is fighting to avoid relegation and that he still has a year left on his contract, the Nigerian international is reportedly taking his time making decisions about his future.

Some Premier League and European clubs are keeping a close eye on him as they consider making a move for him in the forthcoming window due to his efforts in Everton’s fight to avoid relegation.

Although, the former Burnley boss, Sean Dyche, has dispelled reports linking to his exit from Goodison Park, claiming that the Nigerian attacker is content with Everton.

The former Arsenal forward has drawn notice under Dyche’s leadership at Everton with his brilliance, and he will do whatever it takes to keep him in the team.

The forward has been selected by Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro for their match against Guinea-Bissau in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match, and it is expected that the Everton star will carry over his strong performance to the national level.
