“It’s not too late” – Turkish insider says Galatasaray regrets not signing Super Eagles and Leicester City star

The Nigeria international has been exceptional for the Foxes this term, but he could be plying his trade for another club after the winter

Turkish football commentator Haldun Domaç is convinced that Galatasaray regret not signing Wilfred Ndidi in the summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

Galatasaray needed a defensive midfielder during the last transfer window and were among the clubs reportedly interested in Wilfred Ndidi.

The Yellow-Reds eventually settled for Tanguy Ndombélé, who arrived from Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal.

Ndombélé has struggled to fit into the setup at Galatasaray, with the French midfielder making only two starts for the Lions in the Super Lig.

Still, Galatasaray are flying in the Turkish division, sitting joint-top with Fenerbahce on 34 points.

The team also has four points in Group A of the Champions League together with Copenhagen, one more than last-placed Manchester United.

However, Turkish football insider Domaç reveals he has been told that Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk wishes he had signed Ndidi instead of Ndombélé.

Domaç also believes that Galatasaray will look to correct that anomaly and will allow Ndombélé to leave in the winter and bring in Ndidi as his replacement.

“The one who made Okan Buruk regret at Galatasaray is leaving, and the one who will make him happy is coming. Okan Buruk sees Ndombele as inadequate,” Domaç said, as per Haber Sarikiirmizi.

“There are three names on the list. Rodrigo Bentancur from Tottenham, Thomas Partey and Wilfred Ndidi from Arsenal.

“Okan Buruk expresses his regret about Ndidi from time to time. ‘If we had bought Ndidi instead of Ndombele, we would have been at a very different point.’

“But it’s not too late. Galatasaray wants to transfer him from Leicester City if it can be done during the half-time.”

Ndidi has been pivotal for Leicester City as the Foxes are early favourites to gain promotion to the Premier League.
