The Never Stop Dreaming tournament by Taiwo Awoniyi showcased the immense talent that lies within the town of Ilorin and served as a catalyst for a brighter future in football

Super Eagles star, Taiwo Awoniyi, has revealed that the theme of the tournament is not about his team,  but to showcase the talent of the players in his state, Soccernet.ng reports.

The International Football Academy and the football academy established by Nottingham Forest striker Unicorn FA, squared battle in a thrilling match during the eagerly awaited Never Stop Dreaming Tournament.

Despite Unicorn FA’s loss, Awoniyi expressed his perspective on the tournament’s significance beyond his own team’s performance.

Awoniyi emphasized that the tournament’s theme, “Never Stop Dreaming,” was not solely about his team but rather aimed to unite the entire state of Ilorin, Kwara.

The event brought together 26 football academies from the region, underscoring the collective effort to showcase the talent and potential within the local football community.

“The tournament is for the state. We are just privileged to have organized such a tournament,” Awoniyi stated.

He highlighted the broader goal of inspiring young players in the state, empowering them to believe that they too can achieve their dreams.

Awoniyi aimed to instill a sense of possibility, encouraging the participants to carry the same belief and motivation to their respective academies.

While Unicorn FA may not have emerged victorious on this occasion, Awoniyi stressed that winning or losing is not the sole measure of success in football. Instead, the focus was on the tournament’s larger purpose: providing a platform to showcase the talent within the town and creating opportunities for young players to be noticed.

Awoniyi further explained his intention to identify promising players and potentially help them through his connections, stating, “Maybe tomorrow, if we see some players who are doing well, I can tell my agent if he can help this guy.”
