Galatasaray linked with a move for promising defender highly rated by Super Eagles coach Peseiro

Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray are reportedly considering a move for Italian-Nigerian defender Caleb Okoli, Soccernet.ng understands.

The 21-year-old is currently on the bench at Atalanta and could be available for a transfer fee of around €20 million.

According to a report by TMW as per Calcio Atalanta, Okoli is being considered by Galatasaray to bolster their defensive options in the upcoming transfer window.

The young defender has already represented the Italian U-21 national team and is considered a promising talent in the football world.

Despite being relegated to the bench at Atalanta, Okoli has had a decent season in Serie A, having started 9 out of 13 matches for a total of 841 minutes on the field.

However, he has not been able to return to the starting lineup since November 2022, when he played against Inter Milan.

With Galatasaray looking to strengthen their squad, Okoli could be a good addition to their defence. The Turkish club has a strong tradition of signing young talents and helping them develop into top players. Okoli could benefit from playing regular football and learning from experienced defenders in the Galatasaray team.

If the move goes through, Okoli would be joining a team that is currently at the top of the Turkish SuperLig table and has a great chance of winning the title this season.

Galatasaray has a long and successful history in Turkish football, having won the league title a record 22 times.

The young defender is also on the radar of Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro.

The Portuguese manager confessed that Okoli is one of the reasons he toured Italy last month while suggesting to Ademola Lookman to help convince the strong centre-back to choose Nigeria over Italy for senior international football.
