Former Argentine boss could become Awoniyi and Dennis’ coach at Nottingham Forest

Steve Cooper has failed to deliver the goods for Nottingham Forest consistently this season, and the club may part ways with him soon

English Premier League club Nottingham Forest could appoint Jorge Sampaoli to take over from Steve Cooper if their poor run of results continue Soccernet.ng.

Cooper guided Nottingham Forest to Premier League promotion last season, winning the Championship playoffs. However, results have not gone their way this season despite their huge investment in the transfer market last summer.

The Tricky Trees signed Emmanuel Dennis and Taiwo Awoniyi last summer, but both players have struggled to hit the mark. While Dennis has struggled for playtime, Awoniyi has struggled with injuries.

Nottingham Forest have picked up just one win from their last ten Premier League games, and they are wallowing in relegation waters. They sit 18th on the Premier League table and are only separated from safety by goals difference.

The club openly backed coach Cooper despite their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa last week. But if he does not start picking up the results soon, he could get the sack.

According to Transfer News Live, Nottingham Forest are looking to appoint Sampaoli if they let Cooper go.

If Cooper leaves, Dennis and Awoniyi would have to prove their worth and fight to be first-team players. Sampaoli may like Dennis because of his flair, and Awoniyi’s physicality could also be the deal breaker.

Nonetheless, the ultimate aim for both Super Eagles strikers would be to avoid relegation this season.
