Ekiti Election: PDP Extends Sale Of Governorship Forms – [See New Date]
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ekiti State has again extended the closing date for the sale of nomination forms for the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that the 2022 Ekiti State gubernatorial election is scheduled to hold on June 18, 2022.
PDP had in its preparation for the election earlier, announced that the party nomination form will close on October 14, 2021. The incumbent Governor of the State, Kayode Fayemi, is due to vacate the seat in 2022 and cannot seek re-election for a third term.
With less than a year left for the state to elect another leader who will champion the affairs of the state, PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary on Friday, Kola Ologbondiyan, unveiled October 22, 2021, as the new closing date for the purchase of form into the governorship race.
The statement read partly: “To that effect, the last date for the submission of duly completed forms has also been extended from the earlier Friday, October 15, 2021, to Friday, October 29, 2021.
“Consequently, the screening of aspirants for the governorship election primary has been scheduled to hold on Monday, November 8, 2021, at the National Secretariat, Abuja, while the screening appeals have been slated for Monday, November 29, 2021.
“All aspirants, critical stakeholders, and teeming members of our party, particularly in Ekiti State, are to by this, be guided accordingly,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, party primaries are scheduled to hold between January 4 to 29, Ezenwoko’s Blog understands.
