Benevento to punish forgotten Super Eagles striker for going to watch Osimhen against AC Milan

Benevento Calcio are set to take disciplinary action against their Nigerian striker, Simy Nwankwo, for his unsanctioned visit to Napoli to watch Victor Osimhen play against AC Milan.

The incident has caused uproar among the club’s management and supporters, who view Simy’s behaviour as unprofessional, Soccernet.ng understands.

Tutto Napoli reports that had he sought permission from the club, he may not have been granted the opportunity to attend the match.

Simy had gone to the stadium to support his friend Osimhen and was seen consoling him after the game. He also met with some Nigerian celebrities, including PSquare and Cubana Chief Priest.

However, his actions have caused a significant distraction for the club at a critical time in their season. With only five games left to play, Benevento is fighting to avoid relegation to Serie C.

The club’s management and supporters are disappointed in Simy’s lack of focus and contribution to the team this season. The former Crotone striker is yet to score a goal in 22 appearances for Benevento, adding to the frustration of the situation.

It remains to be seen what disciplinary action Benevento will take against Simy.

Nonetheless, it is clear that the club is not taking this situation lightly, and they need all their players focused on the task at hand as they fight to stay in Serie A.

Simy’s behavior may have cost him and the team dearly, and they will need to regroup quickly to avoid relegation.

Simy was a member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia but the 30-year-old has not been invited to the national team since Osimhen became the undisputed number nine.
