Aisha Buhari’s Aide, Shugaba Gets New Rank In Nigeria Police Force

Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari’s aide-de-camp Usman Shugaba has been badged with a new rank in the Nigeria Police Force.

Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that the personnel was decorated with the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). Shugaba who joined the police force in 2002 had served in various ranks and sections of the force before his appointment as the first lady’s ADC.

Shugaba had also served as ADC to former IGP Mohammed Abubakar and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, among others.

Elated with the development, President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife urged the officer to show more commitment to his job to justify his promotion.

Mrs Buhari hailed Shugaba, describing him as a highly committed and dogged police officer who performed his task with a high sense of honesty and humility.

Speaking after decorating the personnel, Aisha said: “I thank you for coming to support me to decorate one of my dogged staff, as an assistant commissioner of police. Usman Shugaba is a highly committed senior officer in the Nigeria Police today.

“I wish you all the best in your new positions.”

In his remark, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, said promotion in the police was an achievement that came through hard work and dedication to service. He said couldn’t hesitate to relate the First Lady’s recommendation to promote Shugaba to the Police Commission after he learned of his performance.

The IGP said: “When I received the recommendation of the promotion from the first lady that the ADC had been performing his duty diligently with honesty and dedication.

“I had no option than to put my own recommendation to the Police Service Commission for his elevation. Shugaba has today joined the league of senior officers in the Nigeria Police.”

Baba described the police as a reputable institution that guarantees service to humanity and the protection of lives and property. He admonished the newly promoted officer to keep up with his good performance.

“By this promotion, you will be taken to the category of the decision-making process and you are to command not less than 1,000 officers and men at any point in time,” the IGP told Shugaba.

He added: “So, I want to congratulate Shugaba for reaching this far in his chosen career in the Nigeria Police Force.”
