AFCON 2021: Watford signing arrives at the Super Eagles camp

The number in Nigeria's camp continues to grow as they prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts in Cameroon on Sunday

Maduka Okoye is the player to arrive at the Super Eagles camp as the preparation for the 2021 AFCON continues.

Okoye arrived on Sunday to bring the total number of players in camp to 13. His arrival also means all the four goalkeepers invited are complete.

The 22-year-old Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper, who will join Watford in the summer, had revealed to his followers on Twitter that he would join the rest of the players on Sunday.

Okoye has been Nigeria's number one goalkeeper since 2020, but with Gernot Rohr gone, it remains to be seen if Austin Eguavoen will stick with him in Cameroon.

Meanwhile, the Premier League contingents are expected to arrive at camp today. Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho are some of the Premier League stars expected to arrive today.

Frank Onyeka, who played for Brentford on Sunday, is also likely to join the group today. Alex Iwobi was on Everton's bench on Sunday, but he should also arrive on Monday.

However, Samuel Chukwueze, who plays his football in Spanish La Liga, will not arrive until after Villarreal's league game on Monday.

The Super Eagles begin their AFCON campaign on Tuesday with a heavyweight clash against seven-time champions Egypt.
