2023 Presidency: Why PDP Is In Serious Crisis

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has revealed the reason the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in crisis.

Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that opposition party has been embroiled in an internal crisis following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and his allies have demanded the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, following Atiku’s emergence.

Speaking in an interview with The Punch on Thursday, Sowore said the reason for the PDP crisis is the disagreement on how to share the collective wealth of the Nigerian people.

The founder of SaharaReporters added that the internal wrangling is not in the interest of the people, adding that he was not surprised about the crisis.

The AAC presidential candidate said the PDP crisis is divided into two categories, stating that the first crisis is that of credibility, while the other is of the sharing formula.

He said, “The crises in these parties did not start today. They are of two categories. The first crisis is that of credibility, while the other is of the sharing formula. They are yet to agree on how to share the collective patrimony of the Nigerian people; the reason for the whole fight. It’s never in the interest of the people.”

Sowore said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) should not be campaigning due to its failure in office in the last seven years, saying that the party should be apologising to Nigerians.

He added: “For the ruling party, the APC, they shouldn’t be campaigning at all. If there are still people with any iota of shame in the party, they should be doing a house-to-house apology. Both evil parties are not credible before the Nigerian people.”
