“You have a second chance” – Former Vice-President shows support for Super Eagles ahead Black Stars return leg

The Super Eagles missed the chance to end their winless run on Ghanaian soil on Friday, but they can seal a World Cup spot with a victory on Tuesday

Former Vice-President of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar has charged the Super Eagles to keep up their dreams and targets of securing a World Cup ticket despite managing a draw away to Ghana on Friday night.

At a filled-up Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, the Super Eagles fluffed a couple of good chances to draw 0-0 with the Black Stars in the first leg of their Qatar 2022 qualifying playoff.

Still, it was a far-from-impressive performance from the Super Eagles, with the 2013 Afcon champions boasting an exciting forward line including Africa’s most expensive signing, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

However, a win of any margin in the return leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29, will guarantee the Super Eagles a record-equalling fourth consecutive appearance at the world’s biggest football fiesta in November.

And Atiku has urged the national team not to lose faith but soar on the wings of the supports of Nigerian fans to overcome the Ghanaian hurdle.

Writing on his official page on Twitter, the ex-VP wrote, “Well done, Super Eagles. You have a second chance on Tuesday to make Nigeria’s participation in Qatar 2022 a reality. As one, we can surmount any challenges.”

“As One People and One Country with a Common Future, our support can get Super Eagles to Qatar 2022. I am ready, hope you are too.”

The Super Eagles have qualified for the World Cup six previous time since making their debut at USA ’94.
