West Ham ready to battle AC Milan for Montpellier’s Nigerian import Akor Adams
The former Nigeria youth international has
barely spent six months in France, but he is already on the radar of Italian and English clubs
English Premier League campaigners West Ham have joined Italian giants AC Milan in the race to sign Montpellier forward Akor Adams, Soccernet.ng reports.
Montpellier only signed Adams from Norwegian outfit Lillestrom this summer, and the striker has already made quite an impact in the French Ligue 1.
The former Sogndal forward has scored seven goals in 15 league appearances for Montpellier, and even more than his goals, he has impressed with his powerful, energetic, all-round action displays.
Adams’s excellent showing reportedly caught the eyes of AC Milan, who have marked the former Flying Eagles star as a potential replacement for Frenchman Olivier Giroud.
AC Milan are, however, not the only club interested in Adams.
According to The Sun, West Ham United have included the 23-year-old forward in their transfer wishlist.
The Hammers have not done badly this term, having scored 26 goals in 16 Premier League games, and are placed ninth on the table.
The Londoners’ attack could do with a lift, though, as only two players – Jarrod Bowen and Tomáš Souček – have scored four or more goals for David Moyes’ men.
Montpellier may not be in a hurry to let go of Adams during the January transfer window, with the Nigerian striker just finding his feet in France.
Adams has not scored in his last six league games, but he retains the faith of manager Michel Der Zakarian, who has started the youngster in each of those encounters.
The Super Eagles hopeful would want to lead Montpellier back to winning ways when they trade tackles with Metz on Sunday afternoon.
