“We have to”- Ndidi’s Leicester City teammate makes demand as relegation looms
Leicester City’s chances of staying in the English Premier League were dashed with a 3-1 loss to Liverpool
Leicester City captain Johnny Evans has delivered a message to his teammate ahead of their last two English Premier League games, Soccernet.ng reports.
The ex-Manchester United defender believes that Leicester must triumph in their next contests against West Ham United and Newcastle United, who are actively vying for the Champions League spot
The Foxes fell to a defeat against Liverpool with a score of 3 goals to nil on Monday in what was supposed to be a must-win game for them, thanks to two goals from Curtis Jones and a goal from a second-half strike from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The setback caused the Blues to drop two points from safety and into the 19th spot in the Premier League rankings.
Following this, Wilfred Ndidi’s teammates acknowledged that the next East-Midlands game would be challenging, but the squad must compete with dedication and strong effort.
“We’ve got two more games left, and we have to put in the same effort we showed tonight, the same commitment. We’ve got a tough game away at Newcastle and then the last home game of the season, but we’ll be competing like we did tonight,” he said, as quoted by Leicestermercury.
The Magpies will be the opponents of Dean Smith’s team when they visit St. James Park, and a defeat there could seal Leicester’s fate of returning to the second tier for the first time since 2014.
