Victor Boniface and Aubameyang among Europa League’s top scorers
Victor Boniface has fired blank in his last two club games, but has ended his goal drought with a goal against BK Hacken
Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, has propelled himself into the top five scorers of the Europa League after his goal against Hacken, Soccernet.ng reports.
Having previously been the top scorer in the 2022-23 Europa League campaign, Boniface is aiming for another impressive run after securing his fourth goal against the Swedish side.
Joao Pedro from Brighton Albion currently leads the chart with five goals in five matches, sharing the top position with Olympic Marseille’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who also boasts five goals.
Fotis Ioanidis, Romelu Lukaku, Vincenzo Grifo, and Victor Boniface occupy the third position after playing five matches each. However, Boniface’s four-goal tally includes only one from a penalty, differing from Ioanidis and Grifo.
Boniface ended his goal drought, which spanned four games, including international fixtures against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, with an opening goal in Xabi Alonso’s team’s 2-0 away victory.
Since joining the Bay Arena, the Nigerian international has consistently impressed, earning the Player of the Month title and securing Rookie of the Month honours three times.
Although his recent goal-scoring streak has slowed, Boniface will aim to capitalize on his recent performance when Leverkusen faces Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
