Tension escalates at PSG over Victor Osimhen: Qatari owners, sporting director at loggerheads
French giants Paris Saint Germain could be in the midst of a transfer crisis, with reports suggesting that there is a serious rift between the club’s Qatari owners and Sporting Director Luis Campos over the acquisition of Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng understands.
The Qatari owners of PSG are reportedly keen on “Frenchizing” the team and have set their sights on Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt for the attack.
Celebrated Portuguese football executive, Luis Campos however holds a different opinion as he is said to be in favour of bringing Osimhen to Paris.
The Super Eagles striker has been in scintillating form for Napoli this season, scoring 26 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A side.
Even though Osimhen and Kolo Muani are similar in age and potential transfer fee, Campos prefers the Napoli striker who he had followed since his teen years and worked closely with at Lille.
Campos has reportedly met with Osimhen’s agents as he wants to stay ahead of a transfer race for Osimhen that will likely involve many of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea.
However, the Qatari owners of PSG are not convinced about the Nigerian striker’s suitability for the team, and this may lead to a rift between them and Campos.
According to Tutto Napoli, sources close to PSG have reported that there is some tension between the president and the Sporting Director, and it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in this battle.
At the moment, though, Osimhen is focused on helping Napoli claim a first Scudetto title in 33 years. The Neapolitans were close to lifting the title at the weekend but their celebration were put on hold after Salernitana forced a late draw at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
Napoli only need to avoid defeat on their next trip to Udinese on May 4 to wrap up the title.
