Taraba PDP gov candidate pledges to tackle insecurity

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Taraba State, Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (retd), on Sunday promised to tackle insecurity and unite the people of Taraba if elected governor during the forthcoming general elections.

He also pledged to implement free and compulsory education from primary to secondary school level.

Kefas, who spoke during an interview with journalists in Jalingo stated that he would use his experience in the military to tackle insecurity and protect citizens’ lives and property.

He added, “The unity of our dear state is important. I will tackle insecurity, protect lives and property and ensure our people are united. I will focus on education especially from primary to secondary school and make it free and compulsory.

“I will focus on health and expand other sectors to ensure development of the state especially for our people in the rural areas. Taraba has good potential in agriculture and we will explore that. Our plan is a robust one and we will take it step by step and together we will achieve our target for the state.’’

Speaking on his recent victory at the Supreme Court, Kefas who hailed the judiciary for upholding the truth, commended the PDP for doing the right thing by organising the primary election which produced him in a transparent manner and for abiding by the laid-down procedure.

The governorship candidate called on other contestants who lost and those who took him to court to return and join hands with him to win the election and move the state forward.

Earlier, Governor Darius Ishaku, represented by his Deputy, Haruna Manu, called on the people of the state to vote massively for the PDP to win elections in such a way that the opposition would not have to  challenge the victory in court.
