Super Eagles star gets sticks over dismal derby showing
Rangers Head Coach, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst started his three Super Eagles stars in the Old Firm Derby but lost at home to Celtic in a tensed game.
The trio of Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey were all involved in the lunchtime game but Aribo got most sticks for his dismal performance.
Rangers took the lead as early as the third minute through former Arsenal star, Aaron Ramsey but were soon pegged back in the game.
Aribo surprisingly played from start to finish in the game and lost possession 15 times in the game. He had 54 touches, completed 78% of his attempted 36 passes and failed to complete any of his two crosses.
He won 75% of his ground duels and just one of his 5 aerial duels in the game.
Some of the Rangers fans who commented on the game said he’s been a shadow of himself since representing Nigeria at the AFCON and has failed to rediscover his pre-AFCON form.
Anybody got an explanation to why Aribo got 90 minutes

What a hard watch that was absolutely gutting how Aribo stayed on that park I don’t know no been the same since the African Cup of nations.
On to Europe we go I expect a reaction after that performance

Had enough of Aribo. Would accept a decent off for him in the summer. He’s a man short in these big games, can’t believe he played the 90

Anybody up for discussing wit joe aribo brings to the table? How he lasted 90mins is unbelievable.

That Celtic player Aribo was brilliant for them today.

Huge summer for Ross Wilson, huge. His last two windows have been very, very underwhelming.
And if Gio insists on playing the always anonymous Aribo, he’s toast.— Tr5m5ndo (@TremendoHendo72) April 3, 2022
They’ll no need to wash Aribo’s jersey after the match as he hasn’t broke sweat. A complete passenger and one everyone called happening.

I wish Aribo would wake up from his 2 month slump
So many times he was played in with a chance behind or an opportunity to pick someone out 😭
Just not working for him

Big Aribo carrying on his really poor form since AFCON and without Morelos we have zero striker play.
Can’t get away with it in big games

Aribo lasting 95 minutes
Poor on the ball
Poor off the ballNo heart
No energy
No composure
No end product
No dig
No fight
No useTo sacrifice Jack and Ramsey and leave a passenger on like Aribo is managerial suicide based on the performances we witnessed today

Aribo, kent, jack and roofe were awful, sakala is not a football player. Ramsey the only creative player being subbed is a sign gio might be short of what we need

No idea why Ramsay went off! He was playing well and Aribo was causing more problems for us than them! 😡

Aribo was shocking today how he lasted 90 mins is baffling

Ramsey best player? I’d have taken him and aribo off at half time.

Aribo is a spectator

Before AFCON I was singing his praises, telling other Crystal Palace fans we need him to replace Gallagher in the summer. Now I don’t even want him starting at Rangers right now.

Aribo is still at AFCON. Went as our form player and came back a shadow of himself

The midfielder also struggled with the Super Eagles at the World Cup qualifiers and had a poor showing against Ghana by his usually high standards.
