Super Eagles captain Musa overtakes Vieira, Lampard, equals Zidane, Klinsman & Cahill’s record

The Super Eagles of Nigeria edged past the African Wild Dogs of Guinea-Bissau in the second leg of the tie against AFCON qualifiers

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has surpassed some of the greatest players in history, such as Patrick Vieira, Zinedine Zidane, Jürgen Klinsmann, Frank Lampard, and Tim Cahill.

The Super Eagle striker replaced Moses Simon in the second leg of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau at the Estadio 24 de Setembro.

Jose Peseiro’s men were able to exact revenge for their defeat at the Moshood Abiola stadium by defeating their host by a score of one to nil.

It was the Sivasspor forward’s 108th international appearance for the Nigerian men’s national team as a replacement during injury time.

With that, the Nigerian was able to match Zidane, Klinsman, and Cahill’s 108 national caps, surpass Patrick Vieira’s 107 international caps for France, and Frank Lampard’s 10 caps for the Three Lions of England.

The Nigeria Super Eagles player has scored 16 goals since his debut in 2010. He is Nigeria’s highest scorer in the World Cup with four goals.

The 30-year-old, who is now competing in the Turkish Süper Lig, has 92 club goals and 65 assists.
