Stoke City fans demand club’s pursuit of sensational Nigerian goalscoring dynamo
Stoke City supporters in Norway have rallied behind manager Alex Neil, urging him to outpace European competitors in the race to sign Lillestrom’s prolific striker, Akor Adams.
Adams, who represented Nigeria in the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup, is capturing attention with his impressive goal-scoring record, Soccernet.ng reports.
As per Stoke Sentinel, Stoke City have been alerted by the club’s fans in Oslo to Adams’ emergence, with the towering forward seeking to follow in the footsteps of Erling Haaland on his old stomping ground.
At 23, Adams is in his fourth year in Europe.
The former Flying Eagles forward is, however, looking to enjoy his most productive year ever, as he has already found the back of the net seven times in seven Eliteserien fixtures this season.
Since joining Lillestrom from Sogndal last year, the 6ft 3in former Nigeria youth international has gradually displaced Hólmbert Fridjónsson as the focal point of the attack.
Interest from clubs in Germany, Belgium, France, and Spain indicates that Adams’ exceptional performances have not gone unnoticed.
Notably, Werder Bremen are reportedly among those monitoring his progress.
Possibly expressing his desire to play in England, Adams recently disclosed his admiration for former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel, potentially making Stoke City an ideal destination.
Currently valued at €1.50 million, Adams would represent a decent investment for any club that secures the signature of the exciting forward in the summer.
The Jamba Football Academy product managed 16 goals in 56 games for Sogndal IL, but he has already contributed 18 goals and six assists in 40 appearances for Lillestrøm SK.
