Segunda División club CD Leganes are looking to cash in on their former Chelsea player Kenneth Omeruo before the transfer window closes, Soccernet.ng reports.

According to the Spanish daily newspaper Diario AS, the Leganes-based club are waiting to see if they could get a suitable offer for the Super Eagles defender before the end of this transfer window to save them his high salary.

29-year-old initially joined the club on a season-long loan from Chelsea in 2018 before striking a permanent deal with the club in the summer of 2019. The club holds the Super Eagles in high regard and believes they could get a good fee this summer.

The Nigerian International has a year left on his present contract, and they are looking to sell him this summer rather than watching him leave for free next year.

Omeruo, who joined the club for £5m, is reported to be among the top earners and also a key player for the Blue and Whites, but constant injuries and international assignments have limited the Nigerian appearances for the club, where he is regarded as one of the leaders in the dressing room.

The former Kasimpasa player has made 60 appearances for Nigeria and was available to help his country earn a 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone that ensured the country’s participation at the next African Cup of Nations.
