Relegated Super Eagles stars dominates 50 most valuable players in the EFL
Three Nigerian football talents, Wilfried Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Paul Onuachu, have secured notable positions in the English Football League’s top 50 Most Valuable Player rankings, Soccernet.ng reports.
In the PlanetFootball rankings, Joe Aribo narrowly missed the top 50, while Ndidi claimed an impressive 9th place, Iheanacho secured the 22nd spot, and Onuachu secured the 40th spot.
Despite Ndidi’s injury, he showcased his exceptional defensive abilities and tactical awareness for Leicester City, establishing himself as a crucial component of the team. However, his efforts to secure the East-Midland’s survival in the English Premier League fell short.
Iheanacho, another key player for Leicester, made a significant impact with his goal-scoring prowess in the FA Cup and Premier League, earning him the prestigious Player of the Season award.
Onuachu’s goal-scoring prowess would have greatly enhanced Southampton’s attacking strength when he joined the team during the January transfer window. However, he is yet to hit the ground running in England, failing to find the back of the net in nine games.
While Joe Aribo missed out on the top 50, his performances for Rangers FC in Scotland and Southampton before the World Cup break have garnered attention and recognition.
Although there is a possibility that these players might not feature in an EFL match, with Iheanacho being linked with a potential move to join Taiwo Awoniyi at Nottingham Forest and interest from Besiktas J.K and Galatasaray surrounding Joe Aribo.
