Rangers manager GVB provides an update on Aribo’s future
The Super Eagles star’s future has been in the balance for months, with rumours linking him to different clubs, but the Rangers boss has come out to state Rangers’ stand
Rangers boss Giovanni Van Bronckhorst has stated that Rangers would soon begin talks with midfielder Joe Aribo, as they want to hold on to their Super Eagles star.
Aribo, whose contract runs out at the end of next season, has been linked to Aston Villa, Leicester City, and Southampton.
However, nothing concrete sufficed, especially as he was busy with Nigeria at the last Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Nonetheless, Rangers coach Van Bronckhorst is not ready to lose his star midfielder, and he revealed that the Gers would soon begin negotiations with the 25-year-old.
“No, I haven’t spoken with them about extending contracts,” Van Bronckhorst said about Aribo and Kent’s future at a pre-match presser as per Rangers review.
“That’s something the club will do in the near future, so we just need to make sure we have the future well planned.”
“Of course, these are players who are very important for our club, so I think the talks will begin, but with players of these qualities, you want to have them as long as possible.” He added.
Aribo has been one of the most consistent performers for the Gers since he arrived at Ibrox in 2019. He was brilliant in their unbeaten campaign, which saw them claim the Scottish Premiership last season.
This season, he has also put up decent displays for the Gers, scoring six and assisting five in 24 league games.
However, holding on to Aribo could be a difficult task, as the attraction of the Premier League can not be ruled out. But if they decide to let him go, a £10million fee should suffice.
