Pinnick rules out third term NFF Presidential
President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has ruled out a third term bid for the position.
Pinnick on Arise TV on Friday said a third term is a “no no” as his family are against the decision.
The former Delta State Football Association Chairman became President of the NFF in September 2014 and won a reelection in 2018.
His reign as President of the NFF has brought very minimal successes, with Nigerian football thrust in probably one of its lowest periods in decades.
The failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the World Cup has seen many Nigerians blame Pinnick’s leadership and his achievements as NFF President.
“I’m eligible to run according based on the status. Do I want to run? It’s a no no, my family is very key to me , they said it’s taking a toll on me and the family. They believed that I’ve done my best and it’s time to move on . It’s a regrettable decision, but it’s the best “, Pinnick said on the Morning Show.
The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in what has been a slew of misses for Nigerian national teams. The U-17, U-20, CHAN Eagles and Super Falcons had missed out on major tournaments in the past two years with Nigerians seeing the failure as an indication of bad administrative leadership.
Nigeria, however has its U-17, U-20 and senior women’s team gearing up for major tournaments in what seems Pinnick’s final bow, should he stick to his word.
