Oshoala excited by scarcity of tickets for Women’s Champions League final
Super Falcons captain is excited by the scarcity of tickets for Saturday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League final as she considers it a sign of growth in the women’s game
Barcelona have twice set records for attendance in the women’s game, against Real Madrid in the quarterfinal and Wolfsburg in the semifinal as the Blaugrana point to a massive support for women’s football.
With the culture growing across countries and women’s football enjoying a significant rise in viewership and following since the 2019 World Cup in France, Asisat Oshoala believes the scarcity of tickets is proof that the women’s game is growing, much to their desire.
The final against Lyon has been set for the Juventus Stadium in Turin with more than 41,000 tickets expected to be sold out and accommodation at the city centre fully booked.
The legendary Nigerian forward said getting tickets for family and friends has become more expensive but it’s where they want the women’s game to be.
“I have to pay more now for family and friends. It is quite expensive,” Oshoala responded to DW in an event.
“But also this is what you want to see. We always dreamed of getting to this level where tickets are hard to find. Right now you can’t get tickets to the game.
“I love the energy we are getting for the game. Everyone in women’s soccer must be proud of how far we’ve come.
“I have to spend more, but I love it,” she said excitingly.
