“One more step”- Real Sociedad forward Umar Sadiq hints at potential comeback date from injury

Real Sociedad center forward, Umar Sadiq, who moved to Reale Arena last summer, has set a possible timeframe for his injury comeback.

Soccernet.ng understands that the former AS Roma player stated he has been practising alone and is only one step away from joining Imanol Alguacil's men in team workouts.

The Nigerian star, who made his first-team debut for Real Sociedad in September's match against Getafe FC, twisted his right knee after playing 38 minutes and could only receive assistance off the field.

Despite the fact that the 26-year-old, who has been away for more than 7 months, had previously told a local media source that he would return long before his rehabilitation was complete, things do not seem to be going according to plan.

The Kaduna native, however, said that he is beginning to feel better and wants to be back before the La Liga season concludes in a conversation with The Hindsight Podcast, as observed by Soccernet.ng's Journalist, Ayomide Oguntimehin.

“Yeah, I'm good, I'm feeling good now. I am starting to feel much better. I hope in a few time I will be ready.” Sadiq said.

“I've been doing this for the past 7 months, going to the gym, treatment, and going for exams. It has not been easy, but that is my situation and I have to accept it so that I can be back stronger” he added.

The Nigerian striker, who is 1,91 metres tall, was recruited to San Sebastián owing to his ability to score goals. He scored 43 goals in 84 games for Almeria and contributed to their promotion to the first tier.

He has scored three goals in his six appearances for Erreala this season, but an injury setback has prevented him from giving his all.

Meanwhile, Sadiq said that he is recovering well and would need one more step to recover fully, as spotted on The Hindsight Podcast totally. Sadiq voiced his disappointment at not being able to accomplish his objective for Sociedad this season.

“I've been doing some things outside alone. It's just a matter of time to be with the team. So it's remaining just one more step for me to recover and be with the team.” the former Partizan loanee said.

The Nigerian striker said, “Something like that, but I can't say it depends on how much I feel,” when asked to provide a specific timeframe for when he would return from injury, whether it would be in two weeks or a month.

“It depends on how I feel. It's been seven months. And you know ACL injury is from the seventh month to the ninth month, so for now, it's just a matter of time. If I feel good, I will be with the team, and we'll know if I will play.”

In Sociedad's 1-0 Europa League victory against Manchester United, the former Glasgow Rangers player, who has seven appearances and one goal for the Super Eagles, made his European debut.
