NSCDC Destroys Five Illegal Refineries Distributing Adulterated Fuel In Nigeria

Five refineries that are allegedly producing and distributing adulterated fuel across the Nigerian States have been discovered and destroyed.

Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that the illegal refineries were discovered in Delta South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in an operation led by the Commandant General’s Special Anti-Vandal Monitoring Unit (SAVMU), stormed the reported refineries and dislodged them.

The security agency was said to have received a tip-off on the nefarious activities of vandals and oil thieves operating a very big camp and immediately acted on the information.

Two (2) suspects were nabbed during the operation while other collaborators remained at large, Ezenwoko’s Blog learnt.

The illegal refineries according to an intelligence report made available to newsmen on Monday, are owned by three individuals consisting of one woman and 2 other men.

The alleged owners, Ezenwoko’s Blog understands have been arrested and are currently in the NSCDC custody and are volunteering information to assist in carrying out further investigation.

Speaking on the operation, the Squad Commander, DCC Brah Umoru Samson, assured Nigerians that the SAVMU will not condone any act of sabotage to the economy and therefore warned all illegal operators to engage in a legitimate business that will not contravene the law or compromise the safety of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the country.

DCC Samson assured that culprits will be prosecuted according to extant law when investigations are over on their operations.

He stressed that the Squad will ensure a total manhunt for those currently on the run.

According to him, the illegal refineries and other equipment used for the illicit business have been destroyed, while an investigation will be carried out with due diligence to unravel the other criminals connected to the crime for possible prosecution.
