Nnamdi Kanu: You Displayed Ignorance And Will Be Taught In The Language You Understand – IPOB Fires Back At Presidency
The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned the statement by the presidency that the arrest of its leader will lead to an end of the group.
The group said contrary to what the presidency thinks about the group, the Nigerian government has committed an international offence by arresting Nnamdi Kanu and repatriating him back to Nigeria.
It added that the presidency displayed a high level of cluelessness and ignorance by assuming that the arrest of its leader will automatically result in the end of the group’s agitations.
IPOB in its statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful further stated that it will drag the Nigerian government before the International Criminal Court (ICC) where they will be taught “in the language they understand.”
The separatist group made the submissions in a direct reaction to an earlier statement by the presidency through the President’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu in which the government described IPOB as delusional, adding that the arrest of Kanu will lead to the demise of the group.
But Powerful has now in a counter-statement submitted that the Nigerian government has just given the international community proof that it is high-handed in its dealings and out to discredit IPOB which is a peaceful group by all means.
He said: “The attention of the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU has been drawn to the ranting and laughable statement from Garba Shehu the SSA Media to President Buhari saying that the extraordinary rendition of IPOB leader will lead to the end of IPOB agitation.
“We are surprised at the level of cluelessness and ignorance displayed by Garba Shehu about the operations of IPOB. We, therefore, want to assure him and his co-travellers that the extraordinary rendition of our leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU will rather destroy Nigeria and not IPOB. By kidnapping and renditioning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Nigeria has committed an international crime and must not go unpunished.
“The world doesn’t need any further proof that IPOB is a peaceful movement. The kidnap of its Leader by the Nigeria Government is a crime that must be punished. So, by this singular violation of international law, Nigeria is in already but instead of admitting the obvious its officials and busy playing to the gallery.
“But very soon, the masterminds of this heinous crime will be rounded up and handed over to the international criminal court, ICC for prosecution. IPOB is not a push-over movement, and we cannot be intimidated. Just very soon our oppressors will be taught by ICC in the language they understand.
“IPOB remains a nonviolent organization but has been the victim of the high-handedness of the Nigeria Authorities. The wicked Nigeria security agents have continued their secret genocide against Biafra agitators. But they will pay for their atrocities very soon.”
Meanwhile, the United Nations has reportedly expressed outrage over the torture and maltreatment which the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu was subjected to while being detained in Kenya and has issued ‘urgent appeals’ against Nigeria and Kenya over Kanu’s rendition.
