Nigerians abroad: Coach Jibrin struggles with OTP, Udeh shines in Brazil, Oluwaseyi nets hat-trick

Several Nigerian football players displayed their skills and talents on Saturday, June 8, as they represented their respective clubs in active European leagues.

Soccernet.ng has compiled the most remarkable moments from their performances. Let’s delve into the highlights.

In the Bangladeshi Premier League, Peter Ebimobowei, playing for Rahmatgonj MFS, found the back of the net in a thrilling 2-2 draw against the home team at the Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

Ebimobowei, in tremendous form, scored the opening goal of the match in the 56th minute, securing his fourth goal in the last four league games.

Meanwhile, former Sunshine Stars forward Ojukwu showcased his prowess by scoring his eighth goal of the season.

Ojukwu is the second most prolific Nigerian player in the division, trailing only behind former Enyimba hero Mfon Udoh, who has netted an impressive 11 goals for Russell.

Unfortunately, it was a disappointing evening for Emmanuel Uzochukwu and his team, Muktijoddha SKC, as they suffered a crushing 6-1 defeat at the hands of high-flying Bangladesh Police.

Uzochukwu, however, provided a glimmer of hope for the visitors by converting a penalty just past the hour mark, resulting in their solitary consolation goal.

Moving on to Belarus, 22-year-old defender Jonathan John scored the only goal for Gomel in their 3-1 loss against Slutsk. Although his team fell short, John’s contribution did not go unnoticed.

In the vibrant football landscape of Brazil, young forward Arinze Udeh emerged as a key player for Londrina.

Udeh netted an equalizer for Londrina just before halftime in their Serie B clash against Guarani at Estádio Brinco de Ouro da Princesa in Campinas, São Paulo.

Unfortunately, Bruno Mendes’s 95th-minute penalty secured a 2-1 victory for Guarani, leaving Udeh and Londrina disappointed.

Shifting our attention to Finland’s Kakkonen league, Nigerian coach Augustine Jibrin led OTP but faced disappointment as they suffered a 3-2 defeat against RoPS.

Nigerian midfielder Alexander Jibrin managed to find the back of the net for OTP, contributing to their two goals.

Despite the loss, Coach Jibrin’s OTP holds the seventh position in the 12-team league, boasting a record of three wins, two draws, and five defeats from their first ten games.

Finally, in the United States, Tanitoluwa Oluwaseyi showcased his incredible talent as he emerged as the hero for San Antonio in their emphatic 4-0 away victory over Memphis 901 in the USL Championship.

Oluwaseyi secured a remarkable hat-trick, marking the second of his career, leading San Antonio to their eighth win of the campaign.

His first career hat-trick came in May during San Antonio’s dominating 7-0 away victory against Charleston Battery.
