Neyorla speaks on growing fan base

A budding singer, Eniola Awokoya, aka Neyorla, has said that making her own versions of some popular songs helped to build her career.

Recall that in 2022, singer Kizz Daniel gave her some money for recording her version of his song.

She told Saturday Beats, “I did not only enjoy making ‘covers’. It was essential for me as an artiste to grow my fan base. It has proven to be helpful to my growth as an artiste.”

Recalling how her music career began, she said, “My journey in music began in 2018.I used to be a professional dancehall dancer. I never saw myself making music, until one day when I was bored and decided to make a ‘cover’ of Eva Alordiah’s song, ‘I Done Did It’. I posted it on Instagram and it went viral. I got a message from a talent manager, who encouraged me to go into music, and is now my manager.”

On what inspired her new song, ‘Realise’, she said, “I have always wanted to be successful, and I have worked so hard to achieve something meaningful. Sometimes, I forgot to eat well and take care of myself. Then, one day, I fell ill and realised that I needed to take a break, and pay more attention to my mental health. That was what inspired the song.”
