Napoli offer Victor Osimhen new ₦6.3 billion salary to ward off PSG, Chelsea interest

Serie A champions Napoli have reportedly offered their star striker Victor Osimhen a staggering ₦6.3 billion salary in a bid to deter potential suitors such as Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, Soccernet.ng reports.

Despite relentless interest from top European clubs, Napoli’s president, ADL, remains determined to keep Osimhen in Naples and recently held a meeting with the player’s representative to discuss a new contract.

ADL has expressed his desire for Osimhen to extend his current deal with Napoli for an additional two years.

The Nigerian striker’s existing contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025. As prominent clubs circle around Osimhen, ADL recognizes the importance of securing his prized asset’s commitment to the Scudetto winners.

During the meeting, as per Tutto Napoli, ADL proposed raising Osimhen’s annual salary to six million euros, with additional bonuses that could elevate it to seven million euros (approximately N6.3 bn).

This remarkable offer exceeds Napoli’s usual salary structure, demonstrating their determination to retain the talented forward.

However, no agreement was reached during the discussion, and further talks have been scheduled to assess the evolving situation.

Should Osimhen opt for a move to powerhouse clubs like PSG, Chelsea, or Real Madrid, he could potentially earn twice the amount offered by Napoli.

De Laurentiis, though open to Osimhen pursuing greener pastures, insists that any interested party would need to pay a significant sum to secure the services of the Serie A’s first African top goalscorer.

Recent reports indicate that Napoli value Osimhen at €180 million, mirroring the sum PSG paid Monaco for Kylian Mbappe’s transfer in 2018.

While Osimhen may not yet match the world-renowned Mbappe’s overall value, he has etched his name in Serie A history as the league’s most valuable player.
