Lille want hot Nigerian attacker to replace Jonathan David

Orban has raised a lot of eyebrows with his phenomenal goalscoring ability since he moved to Gent in January

French Ligue 1 club Lille have made contact with Gent to inquire about free-scoring Nigerian striker Gift Orban, Soccernet.ng reports.

Orban has been phenomenal since his €3.3million transfer from Norwegian second-division club Stabaek to Jupiler League side Gent.

The 21-year-old goal poacher has taken Belgium by storm, registering 20 goals and two assists in 20 games for the Buffaloes. Orban’s goals pushed Gent into the Europa Conference League finals in the Jupiler League, and his goals also helped seal qualification with two games to spare.

Several clubs in Europe are bracing up for a busy summer, and Orban could be involved as his displays have turned heads. Barcelona, Leeds United, and Manchester United have all been linked to the Nigerian goal poacher.

However, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Lille are the only club that have shown concrete interest in signing Orban. They are looking to invest in the Nigerian striker because they may sell their star man Jonathan David this summer if they get a good offer.

Lille could get over €60milliom for David, and that would be more than enough to fund a move for Orban who could be worth €10million.

Les Dogues already have a relationship with Gent. They signed David from Gent for €27million in 2020, and striking another deal with the Buffaloes for another striker may be seamless.
