Late Obadiah Mailafia Truly Loved Nigeria – President Buhari
The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Late Obadiah Mailafia has been described by President Muhammadu Buhari as a man who truly loved Nigeria.
President Buhari noted that the former Presidential candidate left a footprint that helped sustain peace and relationship in the country.
Buhari who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, stated this during the service of songs and tributes organised for the Mailafia at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.
He further stated that Obadiah was a devoted Christian, well known Development Economist, International Polymath, Central Banker, academician per-excellence, astute administrator and strategist whose enormous contributions to the growth and development of our nation’s economy are unquantifiable.
President Buhari commended the ex-deputy governor of CBN for his contributions to the transformation of the nation’s banking sector through the Banking Consolidation Exercise.
According to the President, Obadiah during his tenure birthed most of the technologically advanced banking services Nigerians enjoy today.
He added that the selfless service of the former presidential candidate to his family and contributions to humanity are enumerable.
President Buhari lamented, “We have lost a rare gem and we will all miss him for his unimpeachable contributions to nation-building. His undisguised love for Nigeria was not in doubt.”
Recall that Obadiah died on the 19th of September 2021 at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH).
