Italian defender highlights major difference between Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen
Osimhen and Martinez have dominated Serie A since last season, and there is very little that separates the two strikers
Italian defender Federico Baschirotto has stated that it is easier to defend against Lautaro Martinez than Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen and Martinez have distinguished themselves as two of the best strikers in the Italian Serie A since last season. While Martinez has been steadily delivering goals for Inter Milan, Osimhen has been superb for Napoli.
Osimhen has built a reputation with his high-octane, power-play style, and this has often paid off, as defenders always struggle to compete with his energy.
Last season, the Nigeria talisman scored 26 goals in the Italian top-flight to help Napoli to their first Serie A title in over 33 years. His brilliance also made him the first African player to win the Capocannoniere.
This season, Osimhen has continued with his outstanding form, netting six goals in eight league games. Meanwhile, Martinez has had a brilliant season so far, finding the net 12 times in 12 appearances for the Partenopeans.
Meanwhile, Lecce defender Baschirotto, who has faced Osimhen and Martinez, has highlighted one major difference between the two strikers.
“Osimhen was more difficult to mark than Martinez. Lautaro[Martinez], in my opinion, is the strongest in the championship,” Baschirotto said per Napoli Magazine.
Osimhen has been out of action for the last six weeks because of a muscle injury, but he should return for Napoli’s Serie A game against Atalanta this weekend.
