‘He put the whole of Europe on notice’ – football fans praise Super Eagles star
The Ramon De Pizjuan Stadium was the Super Eagles defender’s stomping ground on Wednesday
Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey’s performance on Wednesday night has put the whole of Europe on notice, according to an impressed fan.
Bassey was unarguably the best Rangers player on the night as he fought for every ball and won duels all game long.
His performance saw him make excellent recoveries, win aerial and ground duels and put his body on the line all game.
The defender was praised by Rangers fans and neutrals alike as he proved immense for two hours in the Gers backline.
The performance that Calvin Bassey is putting in tonight is genuinely putting the whole of Europe on Notice. #Rangers

Calvin Bassey for a 22 year old in his first full season in senior football has been absolutely incredible tonight.

So pleased to see Bassey getting such widespread praise. I obviously don’t watch him every single week but whenever I have seen him, I’ve been hugely impressed.

7 years ago Calvin Bassey was thinking about quitting football after being rejected by 4 academy clubs
Tonight he was the best player on the pitch in a European final.

Calvin Bassey is a different level here. Laddie doesn’t even look tired.

Calvin Bassey didn’t pick up the trophy tonight but still came out shining. We often marvel at attacking exploits but we need to recognise this masterclass. 8 recoveries. 4 clearances. 4 duels won. 3 interceptions. His spirit sums up the amazing cup run Rangers had this season. pic.twitter.com/22SWFpUhQw

Bassey is unreal, bring him to The Carpet

Will Calvin Bassey be playing in the Premier League next season?
He’s been immense tonight and one of Rangers best players this season.

Calvin Bassey is really good at utilising his massive frame. Plants it in good positions, levers and seals players off the ball, sees it out of danger with an important calmness. Not something that many players of his size get to grips with at his age/experience level.

Bassey has been rock solid
— WATP 🇬🇧🏆 (@WATP_com) May 18, 2022
Bassey is their best player by some distance.

Calvin Bassey! One player who should raise his head up high. Never had a chance to shine in England. A certain Luke Thomas at Leicester was given the nod ahead him in the 1st team. Bassey took the leap of faith to leave his boyhood club.
The rest as they say is History.

Calvin Bassey looks like those players we “created” in PS2 back in the day. He’s got pace, he’s big & strong, difficult to beat. Had such a decent game the Nigerian. 🇳🇬👏🏼 #UELfinal #EuropaLeagueFinal

Calvin Bassey is tremendous. Still a tad raw but maturing into a proper defender. Reads the game well, comfortable on the ball & has the pace to bail himself out when required. Won’t be long until Premier League clubs come calling, with Aston Villa already keen. #RangersFC

Joe Aribo gave Rangers the lead in the 57th minute as he calmly slotted the ball past Kevin Trapp in the Frankfurt goal. It was his first goal in 15 Europa League games for Rangers and proved to be a perfect night until the 69th when Rafael Borre snuck in to draw the Germans level.
The game went into extra time, produced no winner and Rangers lost the tie on penalties.
