Fr. Mbaka: Shehu Sani Reacts As Catholic Church Bans Worshippers From Attending Adoration Ministry
Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has urged the catholic church to be more tolerant of the view of others.
Sani said this on Saturday while reacting to the decision of the Catholic church leaders to ban members from attending services at the adoration ministry which belongs to Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka.
As earlier reported by Ezenwoko’s Blog, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Bishop Calistus Onaga in a statement on Saturday imposed a ban on Rev. Fr. Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry.
In a letter he personally signed, addressed to ‘All the Clery, Religious and Lay Faithful in the Catholic Diocese of Enugu’, Bishop Onaga banned the Christian group from having anything to do with the Adoration Ministry.
According to him, Mbaka has veered off the Church’s persistent directives and in fulfilment of his pastoral duties as the Chief Shepherd, “I hereby prohibit all Catholics (clergy, religious and lay faithful) henceforth from attending all religious and liturgical activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry until the due canonical process initiated by the Diocese is concluded.”
It will be recalled that Mbaka’s current challenges started after the renowned cleric made a derogatory comment about Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Mbaka while addressing his congregants on Wednesday, June 15, described Obi as a ‘stingy’ man who will never be the president of Nigeria.
Reacting to the action of the catholic church, Sani on his Twitter page said the leaders should have been more tolerant of the views of Mbaka.
He wrote: “Asking Catholics not to attend the Church of Father Mbaka because of his political views is same as removing Sheikh Khalid as Imam of Apo Juma’at mosque because of his views. We are different only when (we) tolerate views other than ours.”
