Former Manchester City U23 talent of Nigerian descent completes move to Hatayspor Kulubu in Turkey
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru played 34 league matches last season to help Sheffield Wednesday earn promotion to the English Championship
Turkish Süper Lig Club, Hatayspor Kukubu, have signed German-born Nigerian player Oluwafisayo Faruq Dele-Bashiru from English League One side Sheffield Wednesday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The talented midfielder has been at Sheffield Wednesday since 2020, where he conjured 88 appearances and scored 8 goals. He contributed largely last season to the club’s promotion to the English Championship.
During his period at Sheffield Wednesday, he showcased his potential in anchoring the midfield and displaying passing skills.
His stellar performances earned him the club’s Player of the Month in October 2021 and the EFL Cup Player of the Second Round in September 2022.
Dele-Bashiru was born in Germany and is of Nigerian descent. He moved to England with his parents at a young age.
He started his career with the Manchester City youth team at the age of 8 before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2020.
Hatayspor Kulubu shared their imminent signing of the midfielder on their Instagram page after completing his medicals, stating,
The young midfielder, who previously wore a uniform for Manchester City U23 and Championship team Sheff Wed has undergone a medical check at Fulya Hospital.

The Nigerian defender hasn’t represented either Germany or England at any level, and hope to get a chance one day to play for the Super Eagles. He has a brother Tom Dele-Bashiru who is also a footballer and plays for Watford in the English Championship.
