Everton keen on signing Arsenal-owned Super Eagles-eligible striker
Everton are in a tough battle to stay alive in the Premier League and if they do, they want to bring in some quality players ahead of next season
English Premier League club Everton are looking to sign Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun after the end of his season-long loan deal at Reims Soccernet.ng reports.
Balogun has been a revelation since his loan switch from Arsenal to Reims last summer. The 21-year-old striker has scored 19 goals in 32 appearances for his Ligue 1 side, and he is fourth on the league’s goalscoring charts.
The Arsenal Academy product has turned heads around Europe, and some clubs are already plotting to lure him. Soccernet.ng reported earlier that Olympique Marseille are keeping tabs on him.
The former Ligue 1 kings are not the only ones eyeing him. According to Football Insider per football fancast, Everton are keen on signing him if they survive the drop. The Toffees lack reliable options in attack. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injuries in the last three seasons, and Neal Maupay has not shown glimpses of the deadly point man that Everton got from Brighton.
If the Toffees stay afloat, they would stand a good chance of signing Balogun, especially if Arsenal can not assure him of adequate playing time.
Balogun was born to Nigerian parents in the USA, but he plays for the England youth teams. Nonetheless, he can still play for the Super Eagles because he has not gotten a senior cap.
