Ekiti Election: ‘We Don’t Want To Sell Our Conscience Again’ – Voters Shun Vote-Buying

As the battle for who will become the next governor of Ekiti state continues at the polling units, some voters have kicked against vote-buying.

Speaking with Channels Television, the voters said they were not illiterates and would no longer sell their votes or their conscience to the state in exchange for money.

One of the voters, identified as Kolawole Olatunde said “Vote-buying means selling your conscience. We don’t want to sell our conscience again! We are determined in Ekiti State, no vote-buying again”

Another woman said: Ekiti State is a state of professors, Aa dibo ka se obe.” meaning, “We are not selling our votes for a pot of soup.”

So far the election has recorded massive turnouts as people were seen to have trooped out in their numbers to elect the candidate of their choice.

The is as Independent National Electoral Commission has said that accreditation of voters would end by 2:30 pm.
