EFCC Reacts To Viral Photo Of Obi Cubana Posing With Its ‘Staff’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a statement on Friday has debunked the rumors that its staff posed with Nigerian socialite, Obi Cubana, who was released from their custody on Thursday.

Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that a viral photo of the billionaire businessman, whose real name Obinna Iyiegbu, with a dozen people in a posed selfie surfaced on Friday.

The reports circulating the social space was that the  individuals captured in the sensational viral photo with the popular businessman were staff of EFCC.

However, spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement on Friday,  said the individuals are not the agency’s staff.

Uwujaren urged the public “not to be misled by another mischievous stunt by Cubana’s publicists.”

Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that Cubana was set free hours after the Nigerian anti-graft agency had said it won’t release the socialite until bail conditions are met.

Obi Cubana, who on Monday, November 1 honoured an invite to the office of the EFCC to answer questions bordering on alleged offences of money laundering and tax fraud, was held back by the anti-graft agency.

The businessman faces a “serious case”, according to sources with investigations still ongoing
