Dessers enthusiastic about link-up with Brazilian star at Rangers
Danilo just teamed up with the Gers last week, and Dessers is excited about playing with the Brazilian in the attack
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers is enthusiastic about his potential attacking partnership with Brazilian striker Danillo at Rangers, Soccernet reports.
Rangers have not won the Scottish Premiership in the last two seasons, but they are looking to change that. They have brought in nine players already this summer, and Dessers is one of their latest additions.
The 29-year-old striker just joined Rangers from Serie A side Cremonese this summer in a deal worth €5million. He would be expected to play an important role for the Gers next season, especially with the departure of Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak.
Rangers also completed the signing of Brazilian attacker Danilo from Feyenoord last week for €6.5million. And with how coach Michael Beale has set up in pre-season, he could field two strikers in his starting eleven next season.
Super Eagles striker Dessers seems like the first-choice striker at the club, and he is excited at the prospect of teaming up with Danilo in the Gers' attack.
“We could work together. He[Danilo] is a great striker. I played a lot against him in the Netherlands, so I know him as a player,” Dessers said, per Rangers FC News.
“When you play at a top club, there will always be competition. Danilo and I need to make each other stronger. But it could be a partnership.
“I don't want to tell everyone the plans of the coach, but we could play together. I watched many Feyenoord games last season, and Danilo will bring goals to Rangers.
“He's good in the combinations and can provide assists as well. Not all strikers can do that but he can.”
The new Premiership season is set to begin next weekend, and Danilo could get his debut for the club. He could feature in a two-pronged attack for the Gers.
