Deborah Samuel: I’m Not Afraid To Take A Stand, Atiku Speaks Again

Former Vice President and 2023 presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has again defended himself over the controversial act of deleting a tweet in which he condemned the killing of a Sokoto College of Education student, Deborah Samuel.

Speaking on Friday in Edo State, Atiku said his action which has attracted widespread criticism from Nigerians didn’t come from a position of fear but because the initial statement about the lady’s murder didn’t receive his permission before it was posted.

The PDP chieftain maintained that he is not afraid of taking a stand on critical issues but such posts need to get his express approval before being shared to members of the public.

Ezenwoko’s Blog reports Atiku made the clarification while speaking when he was hosted by Governor Godwin Obaseki during a consultative visit as part of efforts to secure the support of delegates from the state in emerging as the PDP flagbearer.

According to him, “Every tweet has to get my expressed approval but this one didn’t so I asked them to take it down.

“I took a stand about Sharia law and was abused, thrown stones at, but how long did it last? Despite that, I didn’t change my position on that. I am not afraid to take a stand on critical issues.“
