“Come back home”- Finidi George offers coaching tips to ex-Super Eagles players
Finidi George is the head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League team Enyimba F.C, who are presently in first place in the NPFL Championship playoff group
Ex-Super Eagles star, Finidi George, has urged his former teammates on the Nigerian national team to return home, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to the former Ajax star, the former Super Eagles players who are now in a coaching role should not wait too long in Europe amid waiting for the opportunity to coach in Europe.
Finidi disclosed to Mix Master Mitchell Obi (Dsc) on Sports Salsa (Kennis 104.1FM) that ex-Super Eagles players should follow in his footsteps in impacting the Nigerian Professional Football League.
John Utaka, among other Super Eagles stars, as earlier reported by Soccernet.ng, is currently in a coaching role in with Montpelier as an assistant coach for their U-19 team, which is a promising start for him on his new route.
Meanwhile, Finidi, speaking on Sports Salsa (Kennis 104.1FM), recommends those in Europe who are still looking for opportunities to coach in Europe to focus on impacting the NPFL.
“I think the Nigerian league is coming up. Most of these ex-players are in Europe. And you cannot be waiting for that opportunity to come [to coach in Europe] once you see that you do not have that opportunity over there. Come back home, and make an impact. That is what I did, and this is my second season here. And whatever things that are still going to happen, If I am still going back to Europe, that will happen. But I cannot sit over there, and be the waiting for that opportunity. Come back home. I will advise them to come back home and impact the league.” he said.
Finidi's Enyimba secured a 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance yesterday to secure a top spot position with 5 points in their NPFL Super 6 tournament, which shows that the Super Eagles legend is on a good path to great achievement in his career.
