The former Super Eagles attacker spent a good part of his career in the La Liga and starred in the league
Samuel Chukwueze has revealed the former Super Eagles player staff of Villarreal want him to emulate.
Former Real Zaragoza, Malaga and Villarreal attacker, Ikechukwu Uche featured for the Yellow Submarine and impressed at the club.
Uche was also a star for the Super Eagles in the 2010s under late Amodu Shuaibu but never really hit the ground in a major competition for Nigeria due to injuries.
The former Recreativo de Huelva man was however known round Spain for his presence as he graced the league and gave a good account of himself.
While he spent memorable times elsewhere, one of his most successful phases was at the Ceramica where he featured for the Yellow Submarine.
Chukwueze, another Nigerian at the club has said Villarreal want him to emulate Uche because of his attitude and high technical level of football.
“At Villarreal the officials keep reminding me of another Nigerian – Ikechukwu Uche – who they regard as a legend at the club, and they’ve told me to try to emulate his ways on and off the pitch,” Chukwueze told BBC.
IK Uche scored 36 goals in 98 appearances for Villarreal and was known to be constant trouble for majority of their opponent.
He was also a part of the 2013 AFCON-winning squad.
