Brilliant Lookman helps Leicester City end Crystal Palace unbeaten run

The Eagles have been invincible in recent weeks, but Leicester City was at hand to bring them back to earth

Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman scored the opener in Leicester City’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace to bring their seven-game unbeaten run to a screeching halt.

After a disappointing draw against PSV Eindhoven in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie, the Foxes welcomed Crystal Palace to the King Power Stadium. The Eagles have been in great form in recent weeks, going unbeaten in their last seven games.

However, Leicester City clipped their wings. The Foxes were dominant from the blast of the whistle, and they kept the Palace defense at bay.

They finally got rewarded with their goal in the 39th minute. Lookman got on the end of a pass from Kernan Dewsbury-Hall and fired home to make it 1-0.

Despite taking the lead, Brendan Rodgers’ men did not take their feet off the pedal. They struck again through James Maddison, who made it 2-0 barely seconds before the break.

The Eagles came out in the second half, pressing Leicester City as they looked to restore parity to the game, but Leicester City held their own.

The pressure finally paid off in the 64th minute after they won a penalty. Wilfred Zaha was spot on with his kick, as he sent Kasper Schmeichel the wrong way.

Rodgers introduced Kelechi Iheanacho for Patson Daka in the 76th minute, but he could not do much.

Leicester City held out for the 2-1 victory despite the late onslaught from the Eagles.
